"i just don’t think i’m up to coloring something like this AND do it any justice with my current level of skill"

But... that is how you get better :P

Overall I like this, just wish it had... more. I especially love the design work on the gauntlets and other parts, very nice :)

PsychoZombii responds:

I am so late with this response, lol. I never got a notification.

I want to get better, but I also want things to look good, y'know? I wanted this to be at its best, but I'm just not at that level. I'll come back to all my old drawings and redraw them if i reach a level i'm satisfied with.

I really don't know how much more I could've done though. I felt like my lifespan would shorten if I continued adding any lol. Digitally drawing THIS was tedious enough ^^;

thanks for the compliment though! :)

Overall the topology looks solid and the colors work well. I don't see the rig but it looks as though its a decent one to "get the job done" so to speak but if you say it could use more work, I won't argue against that. I think for the topology of that character and the overall "goal" in mind (which is based off an assumption of the picture you have on the right upper right) you more or less hit the nail on the head but I think you have a lot of excess geometry that can be taken out and the texturing could be worked a little more :D

crashadams responds:

Yeah the rigging was just to get her quickly posed, and this is part of a daily art challenge I've been trying to put myself through where I try to produce a "game ready" model in as little time as I can without sacrificing too much quality in a single day.

As far as the topology I thought I kept it fairly low...Marmoset triangulates the mesh so that might be it, it looks a lot cleaner in maya without all the cross edges. I also wanted to make sure she had enough edges around the mouth, eyes, and joints so that I could animate her later if I chose to.

Thanks for the note! I feel like I'm learning quite a bit by doing this challenge...getting a lot better every day I think.

Yup indeed. This is a nice piece of work, but I will agree with Kinhotas on more vivid colors however this is your own style which reminds me of a earlier day like early 90's Nickolodean cartoons or something. Great job on front paging this :D

Erbmaster responds:

Thanks! Many people say that my drawings remind them of those awesome 90's cartoons. I grew up with them so that's probably where this all comes from :D

This is awesome! Great piece and love the comic book art feel of it too. Will this be used in a comic book or movie, or game or anything?

spacebeast responds:

It's going to be used in a comic book series in progress yes, glad you like it dude...

This looks pretty damn awesome. I like the monk look with the paper things on his arm, a very nice touch in my opinion showing more depth or the illusion of. Great work, shading looks fantastic, and overall this is great for just being different from what you are normally doing.

xcrosspictures responds:

Thank you! Yeah, it's not the kind of style I usually go for but I just felt like trying something new.

This is a very interesting piece, I find the colours almost enchant me to keep looking at them :D Looks like this might have a bit of a story behind it, there is a lot going on and I can't keep my eye in a single place which is fine :) Good work!

mega-supreme responds:

thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed my work.

WOW! :D I love it! Great work, I personally love charcoal works, I have a two point perspective piece I have on my blog, that was a lot of fun to do.

CameronMc responds:

Charcoal is a super fun but very messy medium! Good luck and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I've always loved New Grounds and have been an avid viewer of its content for roughly 8 or so years. Now, I am deciding to take up the reigns and begin creating my own content, at least contributing more than just comments and views. Here goes :)
